The scene of the Red Army crossing Wuling Mountain in the Long March
Wuling actually refers to the five mountains stretching at the junction of Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, of which Dayuling and Qitianling are located in Chenzhou. The Red Army's Long March route in Chenzhou is characterized by high mountains, dense forests and many cliffs. The enemy built carved castles according to the danger. This can be realized from the place names, such as Shankou, Lingtou, Tiekeng, Qianzha, Baizhangling, Shibishan and so on. It can be said that every step taken by the Red Army will lead to bloodshed and sacrifice.

Wuling Mountain, one of which is called Yuechengling, is the most dangerous mountain among the five mountains, also called Laoshan boundary. Laoshan boundary is the boundary mountain between the northern part of Xing 'an and Ziyuan County, located at the northernmost part of Gaozhai Village in Huajiang Yao Township, with an altitude of1.860m.. When the Red Army crossed Xing 'an on the Long March, the central column crossed the Laoshan boundary on February 4, 1934. Lu wrote the article "Laoshan Boundaries" on the March, describing the dangers of Laoshan Boundaries and the majestic momentum of the Red Army. Laoshan boundary is the "first difficult mountain" that the Red Army crossed in the Long March.
