"China sees Tianjin for a hundred years" is one of the most important basic exhibitions in Tianjin Museum. The exhibition shows the stormy course of Tianjin in the past 100 years from the Opium War to the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), and shows that Tianjin people have endured humiliation and shouldered heavy burdens in the historical process of striving for national independence and realizing national prosperity, and generations of people with lofty ideals have made arduous explorations and indomitable struggles on the land of Jingu. From the aspects of resisting foreign aggression, political reform, economic development, cultural blending and the new-democratic revolution led by China, this paper highlights the historical position of modern Tianjin in China for nearly a hundred years, and reveals the tortuous course of Tianjin's development into the largest industrial and commercial city in northern China and the frontier of the intersection of Chinese and Western cultures.

Jinling is another name for the ancient capital Nanjing. Although it was the capital of the Ming Dynasty for a long time, and the status of the capital of the early Qing Dynasty no longer existed, it was still a cultural center because it was located in the most economically developed Jiangsu area at that time. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, many painters gathered here, which was called "Jinling Eight Schools" or "Jinling Painting School" in history. Their works often depict the natural scenery around Jinling, and generally attach importance to the description and reproduction of objects, rather than simply following the previous painting procedures. The similar aesthetic creation direction and mutual influence make their works present regional characteristics different from other painting schools.
At the same time, Anhui, which is more than 300 kilometers away from Nanjing, has a profound cultural accumulation since ancient times, especially in southern Anhui, where the economy is particularly developed and the cultural atmosphere is stronger. The change of Dingge in Ming and Qing Dynasties brought a great impact on the hearts of a group of people living here. Most of them are unwilling to cooperate with the rulers of the Qing Dynasty. As adherents, they live in seclusion, devote themselves to painting, or describe their hometown landscapes, or express their pain and loneliness in their works. Their feelings are sincere, and the form of pen and ink blends with the expression of emotion. Because Xin 'anjiang flows through southern Anhui, these painters in Anhui in the early Qing Dynasty were called "Xin 'anjiang School" in history.

During the prosperous period of Kang Yong in Qing Dynasty, Yangzhou was the transportation center of national water transportation and salt transportation and the southeast commercial center. The prosperity of urban handicrafts and commerce has developed Yangzhou's commodity economy. The commercialization of painting and calligraphy art is becoming more and more obvious, and the painting and calligraphy art market is unprecedentedly prosperous. As a result, a group of painters who inherited Shi Tao and the eight painting styles in the early Qing Dynasty, paid attention to life feelings, devoted themselves to creating individuality, and their artistic styles tended to be free and unrestrained, which were highly praised by the market. Because of his unique creativity and imagination in artistic characteristics, he broke through the tradition, so he was called "Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics" in history and later called "Yangzhou Painting School". "Eight eccentrics" are not just eight people, but a group of painters with more than a dozen people, and the word "eight" is used as a divisor. Although it is called "strange", it is actually new, not only a new style of painting, but also a new aesthetic taste.
