How to understand the historical achievements and limitations of utopian socialism
1. Historical progress of utopian socialism;

(1) profoundly exposes and mercilessly criticizes the capitalist system, which is valuable information to encourage workers to scientifically understand and study capitalism; Politically, the three utopian socialism reveals that the capitalist political system is a new oppression system; Economically, it has exposed various drawbacks of the capitalist economic system; In terms of ideology and morality, they severely criticized capitalist egoism and hypocritical moral concepts. Three utopian socialists criticized the capitalist system in an all-round way soon after its establishment, mercilessly criticized the corruption and cruelty of the bourgeoisie, and described the political oppression, economic exploitation and ideological slavery suffered by the proletariat and the working people. This not only provided extremely valuable materials for the enlightenment workers at that time, but also provided valuable ideological materials for studying the capitalist system so far.

(2) They put forward many positive ideas and genius ideas and predictions for the future society, carried out all kinds of difficult experiments to realize the ideal society, and provided valuable ideological materials and inspiring practical examples for the emergence and practice of scientific socialism. They put forward many brilliant ideas for the future society from economy to politics, from production to life, from ideology to culture, from society to family. Although unrealistic at the time, these truths sparkled with genius later.

(3) Although the understanding of human social history is idealistic as a whole, it already contains some ideological buds of historical materialism, which provides valuable ideological materials for scientific demonstration of social development.

2. The limitations of utopian socialism:

(1) Utopian socialism does not scientifically clarify the inevitability of socialism replacing capitalism. Utopian socialism tries to think that social development is regular, but it doesn't realize the objectivity of the law of social development and can't find the economic root of capitalist evil, so it can't come to the scientific conclusion that socialism will inevitably replace capitalism.

(2) Utopian socialism has not found the correct way to realize socialism. They reject all political actions, oppose class struggle and proletarian revolution, and fantasize about persuading the bourgeoisie with reason and transforming society through peaceful roads.

(3) Utopian socialism can't find a class force that can change capitalism and realize socialism. Their theory broke away from the workers' movement and pinned their hopes on a few "educated" bourgeois and rulers who are easy to accept the truth, calling on them to help build an ideal society. Utopian socialism, an "immature theory, is adapted to the immature capitalist production situation."
