The history of Zhongshan Park is closely related to the "Nanman Railway Subsidiary" of the Japanese invaders.
In the 24th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1898), the Russian government built a railway station in Shenyang, which was named as "Maogudian" (now Shenyang North Freight Yard) according to the unequal contract of Dongman Railway Company to update Nanman Branch. At the same time, 6 square kilometers on both sides of the railway from Heping Street in the east, Xinggong Street in the west, Beishi Road in the north and Nanba Road in the south are designated as "railway land" and managed by Russia.
1902 Russia built several dirt roads such as the northern section of Shengli Street in front of Shenyang Railway Station. 1905, after Japan defeated Russia, it took over "Nanman Railway" and "Railway Land" and renamed the "Railway Land" as "Subsidiary Land of Fengtian Nanman Railway Co., Ltd.".
1907, the Japanese invaders planned to build a road in the "Manchuria Railway Affiliated" and laid a "carriage railway" from the old crossing to the Xiaoxibian Gate (now the city road); Taking the railway station as the center, the east-west Shenyang Street (now Zhonghua Road) perpendicular to Shengli Street was built radially. From 19 12 to 19 14, Zhaode Street (now Zhongshan Road) and Iola Street (now Zhu Min Road) were built on the north and south sides of Shenyang Street respectively.
By the end of 193 1, there were 25 east-west oblique roads and 36 north-south streets, basically forming a checkerboard street network. By the time Japan surrendered in August 1945, there were already 102 streets in the "Manchuria Railway Subsidiary". According to the historical records of water supply in Nanman Railway Subsidiary, the history of urban water supply in Shenyang began with Nanman Railway Subsidiary.
