Historical allusions of Free Guanyin
After the rise of Mahayana Buddhism, the belief and practice of Bodhisattva Taoism became the focus of Buddhism, among which Guanyin was the most influential and faithful bodhisattva. The content of Guanyin statue in Korea comes from the classics such as Beijing Daily Pumenpin, Lengyan Sutra and Huayan Sutra, among which Huayan Sutra has the most far-reaching influence. During the Koryo period, due to the prevalence of Huayan Sutra and Huayan Sect belief, Guanyin Map mainly described the setting of Shuiyue Guanyin, which not only had a large number of works, but also had a high standard.

Tang Hou said in "Notes on Ancient and Modern Times": "The art of drawing Guanyin in North Korea is very ingenious, which originated from the beautiful brushwork of Wei Chiyi, a monk in the Tang Dynasty." He spoke highly of the Guanyin Buddha paintings in South Korea. At present, most of the pictures of Guanyin Bodhisattva in South Korea are scattered in Japan, with Shuiyue Guanyin as the most, while most of them in South Korea are works after17th century.
