Haiphong is connected to Quang Ninh Province in the north, Haiyang Province in the west, Taiping Province in the south, Beibu Gulf and Hainan Island in the east, 70 kilometers away from the county seat of Bai Rowen Island. Haiphong is away from the northeast of Hanoi, the second largest city in Vietnam 102km. It is a municipality directly under the central government in northern Vietnam, second only to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in scale, and has the largest port in northern Vietnam.

Haiphong is an important transportation hub in the north. In the early days, the city's harbor system received attention and increased investment. /kloc-from 0/9 to the 20th century, Haiphong was built by the French as a commercial and financial center, especially the tin in the harbor. In the 20th century, coastal defense ports strengthened cooperation and exchanges with several large ports in Southeast Asia, Asia, Oceania, North America, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean, Atlantic and Northern Europe.
Haiphong Port is a national comprehensive seaport. Together with Saigon Port, Haiphong Port is one of the largest seaports in Vietnam. The Vietnamese government concentrated on investing in promoting coastal defense ports. As an important port of international routes, Haiphong Port connects Singapore and Hong Kong with large ports in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
