Why is Pingnan called Pingnan?
The origin of the name of Pingnan County There have been several opinions about the name of Pingnan County: First, it is said that Tao Jin led the troops to cross their toes, Liu Shen was in Xiaogui, and Jin Jue was Pingnan Hou, hence the name; Second, the county government is wide and open, and the government office is located in the south; Third, Nanping and Xiping were placed in the same place in the Tang Dynasty, and later Nanping was changed to Pingnan; It makes sense that the four clouds are located in the south of yong ping. As far as naming rules are concerned, it may be a single reason or a combination of several factors. The first statement is the most popular. However, Tao Kan led the army in the Jin Dynasty. At this time, there was only Wucheng (Wulin) county in Pingnan. Xiaogui's nickname does not refer to Daguishan in Anhuai. The term "small laurel" refers to Lingui County in Guilin, officially named "Pingnan". The conclusive evidence is in the Tang Dynasty. Taking Pingnan Hou as the place name may have been established in the Jin Dynasty, and now it belongs to the "Pingnan" village in Danzhu, which needs to be verified. The name Pingnan was clearly recorded in New Tang Book, Old Tang Book, Yuanhe Zhi, Tongdian and Spring and Autumn Ten Kingdoms, but the book Taiping Yuhuan in Song Dynasty recorded it in more detail, because the author of this book vowed to remember what the previous books had not prepared. The secretary said, "Linjiang County is now Liping County. Zhenguan of Tang Dynasty moved to Yanzhou in the east of this state in three years, and is still in the former governor's office of Yanzhou (cited as Zeng Gong, Xun, Meng, Bin, Cheng, Yan and Teng). Che Tengzhou Wulin and Yanzhou Qinchuan belong to it and established Nanping (namely Pingnan). Qinchuan entered Pingnan, Lingjiang entered Guiping and Xiping, and Tengzhou was built in Suijian. In the first year of Tianbao, it was restored to Duke Zhou, and in the sixth year of Song Kaibao, Yangchuan, Wulin, Suijian and Datong were abandoned to Pingnan. It can be said that the records in Taiping Yuhuan Ji are quite consistent, which well explains the process of Nanping and Xiping being placed at the same time and then collectively called Pingnan, and basically explains the origin of Pingnan county name. From this point of view, Pingnan County has a history of 1000 years since it was named in the 12th year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty (638).
