Yuxi kiln originated in Song Dynasty, flourished in Yuan and Ming Dynasties and ended in Qing Dynasty, with a history of about 600 years. 1986 Archaeological evidence shows that Yuxi Kiln is one of the earliest areas in China where blue and white porcelain was fired except Jingdezhen. However, due to historical reasons, Yuxi blue-and-white porcelain gradually withdrew from the ceramic stage from the Qing Dynasty.
Introduction of Yuxi porcelain
Yuxi kiln was officially excavated in 1960. Yuxi Kiln is located in Nannanshan District, east of Yuxi City, Yunnan Province.
An important kiln for producing blue and white porcelain outside Jingdezhen kiln in Ming Dynasty. In Yuxi, Yunnan today, hence the name. It started in the Song and Yuan Dynasties and ended in the Ming Dynasty. Found three kiln sites, all burned with blue glaze and blue and white porcelain. Blue glaze is printed. There are three kinds of flowers and plain flowers, printed with many positive patterns, including moire and water ripples; The glaze color of blue-and-white porcelain is the same as that of celadon, and the decorative patterns include fish algae, broken branches of flowers, four Buddhist pestles and so on. There are big bowls and plates, as well as jade pots, spring bottles and cans.
The two largest porcelain kilns in Yunnan are Yuxi Kiln and Jianshui Kiln. The former stopped firing, and the latter changed to firing purple sand pottery, which became Jianshui pottery, one of the four famous pottery in China.
Judging from the cultural relics unearthed from the kiln sites, the research on ancient ceramics in Yunnan started late, most of the kiln sites have not been investigated and excavated, and the kiln mouths of many porcelain are still unclear and subdivided, so they can only be drawn up as "Yunnan firing"; Although Yuxi kiln has been excavated, there are few materials and no formal excavation report, and the research results available for reference and utilization are very limited.
