academic research
With a strong sense of responsibility for the times and historical mission, Mr. Tian Changwu used Marxism to explore the laws of China's historical development and compare the similarities and differences between Chinese and western historical development. He has made great academic achievements in the fields of historical theory, the origin of civilization, the ancient social form of China, the stages of ancient history, peasant wars and peasant problems, feudal social and economic structure, ancient China ideology and culture and their interaction with social structure, and established his own family. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Mr. Tian Changwu made a systematic historical investigation and logical analysis of the Asian mode of production, which aroused the debate among historians and pointed out that the main content of Marx and Engels' theory of Asian mode of production was rural commune, not an exact concept of social form. This view has a wide influence, and the paper has been translated into English, French, Russian, Japanese and other languages. Mr. Tian Changwu has always discussed the changes of farmers' historical destiny and its logical connection with the changes of social structure in a scientific way in the study of farmers' war history. After the reform and opening up, Mr. Tian Changwu systematically put forward the theory of China's ancient social form, that is, the essential feature of ancient China society was clan slavery, and the state form was clan city-state; Clan slavery collapsed in the Spring and Autumn Period, and a feudal autocratic country was formed at the end of the Warring States Reform. This view developed Guo Moruo's feudal theory of the Warring States and became a system of its own. Mr. Tian Changwu was also the first to put forward the topic of establishing a new Marxist historiography with China characteristics, and made painstaking and long-term exploration, involving the origin and development of Chinese civilization, the land form of ancient society, the theoretical innovation of Marxist historiography and so on. In 1990s, Mr. Tian Changwu systematically sublimated the previous research results and put forward a new system for the historical development of China. He divided the history of China from ancient times to the end of Qing Dynasty into three stages: the flood and famine era, the clan state era and the feudal monarchy era, revealing the historical law of the continuous transmission of ancient social civilization and the circular development of feudal society in China, which is of great theoretical significance to the development of contemporary Marxist historiography.
