Tianjin polytechnic university is a public full-time institution of higher learning founded by the Ministry of Education, Tianjin and Tianjin. This school has a long history. The earliest department was established in 19 12. Now it has become a multidisciplinary university with work as the center, combining work with study, and coordinated development of engineering, science, literature, management, economics and law. It has formed a complete education system for training bachelors, masters and doctors, and achieved excellent results in the first batch of undergraduate teaching evaluation by the Ministry of Education.

Tianjin polytechnic university Library was founded on 1958. With the continuous expansion of the school scale and the continuous improvement of school conditions, the library consists of two branches: the library of this campus and the library of the new campus. The old library of this campus was built in 1978, with a construction area of 3,750 square meters, and later expanded in 1989, with a total area of 10800 square meters.

The library of the new campus is an independent building with a building area of 53,000 square meters, which is the landmark building of the school. The library is magnificent and has first-class hardware conditions. It is the largest library in Tianjin and the second largest library in China, second only to the library of Zhejiang University. Moreover, the east-west span of the library is close to 960 meters, making it the longest library in Asia.
