Qixia District has a long history, with clan settlements as early as 7,000 years ago, rich cultural accumulation and numerous historical remains. Mufu Mountain, Taiping Mountain and Qixia Mountain have many natural and cultural landscapes along the river, and there are many places of interest. There are as many as 38 national and provincial key cultural relics protection units, among which qixia temple, stupa, Yanziji and Six Dynasties stone carvings are particularly famous. The god beast "ward off evil spirits" in the symbol of Nanjing took shape here and became the symbol of Nanjing. Among the forty-eight scenic spots in Jinling in Ming Dynasty, Guanyin Pavilion, Toutai Cave, Ertai Cave and Santai Cave occupied six scenic spots along the river.
There are Qixia Mountain, Muyan Riverside Scenic Area (Yangtze Guanyin Scenic Area, Damocles Cave, Yanziji Park), Mufu Mountain and other scenic spots in the area.
Qixia Mountain: Qixia Mountain is also known as Sheshan Mountain. In the Southern Dynasties, Qixia Jingshe was built on the mountain, hence the name. Qixia Mountain has charming scenery and scenic spots all over the peaks, and is known as "the first Xiushan in Jinling". There are not only qixia temple, but also thousands of Buddhist rocks carved in the Southern Dynasties and stupas in the Sui Dynasty, as well as the easternmost "Dunhuang Ruins" discovered in China. Although Qixia Mountain in spring is not decorated with red maple, the flowers and trees are full of spring scenery, which is unique.
Muyan Riverside Scenic Area: Muyan Riverside Scenic Area is located in the south of Nanjing's main city, with a coastline of about 5.7 kilometers and a total area of 708.4 hectares. The cliffs along the river are steep, and the two bridges are flying, which brings together scenic resources such as Yanji Sunset, Guanyin Scenic Area of the Yangtze River and ancient caves in the desert.
