Wang Yu (1886- 1943), formerly known as Zeng Jiu, was given his real name. His ancestral home was Yanghe Town, and later he moved to the county seat with his father (Cheng Xiang). When I was a child, I entered a private school and was brilliant. I taught myself physics, mathematics and other subjects with excellent results. In the second year of Qing Dynasty (19 10), he was admitted to Tsinghua as an official student, and studied in the United States for seven years, successively studying in famous schools such as Connor and Columbia University. Get a doctorate.

While studying in the United States, he specialized in repair and agriculture, especially in physics and mathematics. He assiduously studied practical science and invented more than 20 kinds of pocket adders, mathematical instruments, approximate rulers, calculation rules, logarithmic boards, measuring instruments, electro-optical boxes, simple timepieces, etc., and obtained patent rights. Edison, a famous scientist, appreciated his achievements in science very much and had close contacts with him.

Attachment: Wang Yanghe Town, a juror in Shuntian List during Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty (1903), was the magistrate of Houbu County, Zhili, and served as the magistrate of Siyang County in October of the 14th year of the Republic of China.
