Historical evolution of Zhoushan
Zhoushan Archipelago has a long history of development. According to historical records and unearthed cultural relics, they belong to the second cultural era of Hemudu, mainly including the site of Sunjiashan in Qushan, the site of Bai Quan Cross Road, the site of Ma 'ao ancient culture and the site of Houdun in Dashun Temple in Daishan. In the Neolithic Age more than 5,000 years ago, there were people who reclaimed land on the island, fished marine products, lived and multiplied, and began to engage in fishing and salt making.

1687 (twenty-six years of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty) Dinghai County. Kangxi inscribed the tablet "Dinghaishan".

1949 (thirty-eight years of the Republic of China) was classified as Hai Xian county.

1950 May 17, the island was liberated and the Dinghai County People's Government was established.

1953 In March, with the approval of the State Council, Dinghai County was divided into two counties, Dinghai County and Daishan County, which were transferred from Jiangsu Province to Shengsi County and Zhoushan District was established.

1954, Xiangshan county, which originally belonged to Ningbo area, was included.

1958 Xiangshan County was placed under Taizhou Special Zone (196 1 year Xiangshan County was placed under Ningbo Special Zone).

1959, Dinghai, Putuo, Daishan and Shengsi counties were abolished and Zhoushan County was merged.

1May, 962, Zhoushan County was abolished and Zhoushan Special Zone was re-established to govern five counties: Dinghai, Putuo, Daishan, Daqu and Shengsi. 1964 Daqu County was abolished and placed under the jurisdiction of Daishan County and Shengsi County respectively. From March 1967, Zhoushan area was renamed Zhoushan area.

1987 65438+ 10, with the approval of the State Council, Zhoushan area was abolished and Dinghai and Putuo counties were established, and Zhoushan city was established, with jurisdiction over two districts (Dinghai and Putuo) and two counties (Daishan and Shengsi), and a new system of city leading districts and counties was implemented.

On June 30th, 20 1 1, the State Council officially approved the establishment of Zhoushan Archipelago New District in Zhejiang Province, and the scope of the new district is consistent with the administrative area of Zhoushan City. The development and opening-up of Zhoushan Islands has become a national strategy, and it is the first new area with the theme of marine economy in China.
