2. After three years' service (105 1), Wang Anshi was appointed as a judge, diligent and loving the people, with remarkable achievements.
3. In the third year of Jiayou (1058), Wang Anshi was transferred as a branch judge, and Wang Anshi went to Beijing to report on his work. He wrote a long volume, The Words of Renzong, and systematically put forward the idea of reform.

In the third year of Xining (1070), Sima Guang wrote to Wang Anshi (a letter with Wang) three times, listing the disadvantages of implementing the new law and demanding that Wang Anshi abolish the new law and restore the old system. Wang Anshi wrote back ("Answering Sima's Suggestions"), refuting Sima Guang's accusations one by one, criticizing the old-fashioned scholar-bureaucrat class, and showing his determination to persist in political reform.
7. In April of the first year of Yuan You (1086), Wang Anshi died at the age of 66. Given the teacher, he was buried in Jiangning Banshan Park.
