Chongyang county has a long history and outstanding people. The city was built in the fifth year of Emperor Gaozu (the first 202 years) and was named Chongyang in the eighth year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (975). The old ambition is that surrounded by mountains and mountains, the middle earth is flat, just like a heavenly city. The bronze drums of Shang Dynasty unearthed in 1970s have been more than 3,000 years ago, which has become a symbol of Chongyang County's long history and culture. Two folk narrative poems, Shuang He Lian and Zhong Jiu Nao Cao, which originated in our county, constitute extremely precious treasures in China's poetry art treasure house and have eternal value. In 2000, it was named the hometown of Chinese folk art by the Ministry of Culture. The people in the city are very handsome and talented. Ling Hu Yingsheng (Mi), one of the founders of Peking Opera, Wang Shijie, former foreign minister of education of Kuomintang government and the first president of Wuhan University, Wu, the main founder of Jiu San Society and counselor of the State Council, and Zhao Guotai, Yin and Lei of China People's Liberation Army are all Chongyang citizens.
