Xindu District is a municipal district of Chengdu, located at the north gate of Chengdu, and is the central city of Chengdu. It covers an area of 497 square kilometers and governs 13 towns (streets) and 255 villages (communities) with a population of more than 848,600.
Xindu has a long history. It was built at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, with a history of nearly 2,800 years. It is a famous historical and cultural city at the provincial level, with two national key cultural relics protection units, Baoguang Temple and Shengangui Lake. Baoguang Temple, which was founded in the Eastern Han Dynasty, ranks among the "Four Buddhist Jungles in the Yangtze River Basin". Gui Hu, the "first lake in western Shu", is the ancestral home of Yang Shen, the top scholar and university student in Ming Dynasty. Baoguang Gui Hu Cultural Tourism Zone has been listed as a national 4A scenic spot.
