Thick plate pond ancient village covers an area of156,000 square meters, with a building area of 42 16 square meters. These houses are arranged vertically from south to north. From the architectural appearance, the high wall of Gu Lou, which is five feet above the ground, is surrounded by eight gates (main entrance) of Three Liu Miao Square in the east, and six gates of Linwendi, Tongfengdi, Congguiliu Square, Dafudi, Jinshidi and Zuodong in the south. Xunshougong Temple, located in the southeast of the complex, is one step ahead of the whole building, highlighting its position of honoring two brothers, Tu Youyou and Tu Shoufu, the founders of Kaiji. The vertical depth of the complex is more than 57 meters, which is very spectacular from a distance.
The whole village is surrounded by a developed water supply system. There is a vast lotus pond in front of the village (called the moon pond because it looks like the moon), and the port branch in the east can directly reach Fengshui River and Ganjiang River (when this ancient village was built, river transportation was the main channel for transporting building materials). This lake is an excellent landscape element. Now, with Shengda Mountain and Zhushan Mountain in the distance as the background and paddy fields nearby as the bedding, the whole village has organically become a part of the rural scenery of Jiangnan water town.
