The Historical Evolution of Pudong New Area
The present situation of Pudong New Area (here refers to the jurisdiction before 2008) belonged to Xinyi County, Kunshan County in the first year of Liang Datong in the Southern and Northern Dynasties (535). Since Huating County was established in the tenth year of Tang Tianbao (75 1), it has always been a seaside place east of Huating and Kunshan County. Jiading County was established in the east of Kunshan in the tenth year of Southern Song Dynasty (12 17), and it belonged to Huating and Jiading counties. In the 29th year of Yuan Dynasty (1292), the northeast of Huating County was divided into Shanghai County and Jiading County.

In the third year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1725), Nanhui County was established in the southeast of Shanghai County, and Baoshan County was established in the east of Jiading County. At this time, it belongs to Shanghai, Nanhui and Baoshan. In the 15th year of Jiaqing (18 10), Chuansha Fumin Hall was established in Shanghai and Nanhui counties. In 2005, with the approval of Shanghai Municipal People's Government (Hu Fu [2005] 106), the organizational system of jichang town and Chuansha towns in Pudong New Area was abolished and Chuansha New Town was established. The administrative area of Chuansha New Town is the original administrative area of jichang town and Chuansha Town.

By the end of 2007, the whole region covers an area of 532.75 square kilometers, with the registered population of 1 .91.600, and governs 12 streets and1town, with a total of 60 1 community. No.2001District Government in century avenue.
