Hunan province is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and most provinces are south of Dongting Lake, so it is called Hunan. Xiangjiang river runs through the north and south of the province, so it is called Xiang for short. It is located at108 47 ′ ~1415 ′ east longitude, bordering Jiangxi at 24 38 ′ ~ 30 08 ′ north latitude, and bordering on the shogunate and Wugong Mountain in the east. The western part of Guizhou is connected with the eastern edge of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. In the northwest, Wuling Mountain is adjacent to Chongqing; Nanling is adjacent to Guangdong and Guangxi in the south, and the lakeside plain in the north of Hubei.
The extreme position of the provincial boundary is from Huanglianping in Guidong County in the east to Jiucaitang in xinhuang dong autonomous county in the west, Gupo Mountain in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County in the south and Huping Mountain in Shimen County in the north. It is 667 kilometers wide from east to west and 774 kilometers long from north to south.
Hunan's historical position
Hunan is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization. According to legend, Emperor Yan Shennong is in this kind of grain, weaving hemp into cloth and making pottery. Located in the west of Yanling County, Yandiling has become the spiritual symbol of the Chinese nation. Shun Di is a famous place in the world, with Dongting everywhere, and Jiuyi Mountain in Yongzhou is its mausoleum. Hibiscus has been planted in Hunan since ancient times. During the Five Dynasties, it was called "Li Furong Kingdom in the Autumn Wind", so it was also called "Furong Kingdom".
