As a discipline, natural history began in ancient Greece, but before18th century, it was not paid as much attention as it is now. At that time, there were no tools such as modern taxonomy, and the study of biological knowledge was very simple. It was not until Darwin put forward the theory of evolution and revealed the importance of natural selection and the great influence of biological species communication that natural history developed rapidly.
In modern society, with the expansion of human beings, industrialization and urbanization, the natural environment is suffering great damage. Therefore, studying natural history is not only to increase knowledge, but also to improve our relationship with nature and the health of the ecosystem. If we don't pay attention to the subject of natural history, it will be difficult to form the consciousness and achievements of protecting biodiversity and realizing sustainable development, which will have a negative impact on our survival and development.
