To accomplish these three historical tasks, the key is to unswervingly implement the requirements of the Theory of Three Represents. The requirement of "Theory of Three Represents" is the foundation of our party, the foundation of its governance and the source of its strength. It is also the fundamental requirement for comprehensively promoting Party building, constantly promoting theoretical innovation, institutional innovation and scientific and technological innovation, and constantly winning new victories in the cause of Socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Put forward:
The task of socialist modernization put forward by our party began in the 1960s, and the basic framework is industrialization. That is, through the implementation of the five-year plan of national economy, the transformation from agricultural economy to industrial economy and society has been completed. By 1980, an independent and relatively complete industrial system and national economic system were gradually established, laying a preliminary foundation for modernization. This process was once interrupted by the Cultural Revolution.
The Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Party began to seriously correct the "Left" errors in and before the Cultural Revolution and made a strategic decision to shift the focus of work to socialist modernization.
Through reform and opening up and adhering to the Party's basic line, from 1980 to 200 1, we have further established a modern industrial system with complete categories, and the gross domestic product has increased by 56 times. Economic strength, national defense strength and scientific and technological strength have been significantly enhanced, and many aspects of industry, agriculture, national defense and science and technology have entered the advanced ranks in the world. The overall level of industrialization has reached the intermediate stage of modern industry in the world, and the society as a whole has reached a well-off level.
