How did Herodotus, a Greek historian at that time, define the purpose of building Egyptian pyramids?
About 2,500 years ago, the Greek historian Herodotus wrote the words "The pyramids are the tombs of kings" according to what the Egyptians said at that time. In great pyramid of giza and other buildings, there are stone boxes which are considered as sarcophagi. However, what Herodotus wrote was only a rumor. Mummies were never found in those stone boxes in the pyramids.
