Where is the tomb of Empress Xiaozhuang Wen?
Dong Qingling Mausoleum, zunhua city, Tangshan City, Hebei Province

In Zunhua Qing Dongling, there is a lonely goose-like tomb, which is built outside the boundary wall of the tomb-Feng Shui Wall, next to the main entrance of the tomb. This is the mausoleum of Empress Xiaozhuang Wen. Empress Xiaozhuang Wen is a famous concubine in the history of Qing Dynasty. She is the beloved princess of Huang Taiji, the biological mother of young the emperor shunzhi Fu Lin, Michelle Ye's grandmother and Emperor Kangxi. She had a close relationship with san huang in the early Qing Dynasty. In the Qing dynasty, the queen's mausoleum did not have its own independent name, but was named after her husband's mausoleum. The first word of the tomb name uses the first word of its husband's tomb name, and the second word looks at the relative position of the queen's tomb in the husband's tomb. Mausoleums in the Qing Dynasty all face south, and the Empress Mausoleum can only be built in the east or west of the Imperial Mausoleum. The tomb of Empress Xiaozhuang Wen is called Zhaoxiling, which shows that it is a system with Zhaoling in Shengjing (now Shenyang). Zhaoling is the mausoleum of Emperor Taizong of the Qing Dynasty. Because the tomb of Empress Xiaozhuangwen is in the west of Zhaoling, it is called "Zhao Qianling".

Zhuang Fei has such a problem. According to the old Manchu custom, after the death of Empress Xiaozhuangwen, Zhaoling was in Shengjing, and Feng 'an should be buried with Emperor Taizong. But in fact, she was not only buried in Zhaoling, but also thousands of miles away, not even in the Qing Dongling, giving people the impression that she didn't belong. Empress Xiaozhuang's fame and position are so great, why does this puzzling phenomenon appear in her mausoleum? What are the conditions?

According to historical records, before the death of Emperor Xiao Zhuang Wen, she said that she didn't want to disturb the death of Emperor Taizong, and at the same time, she was reluctant to part with her children and grandchildren, so she insisted on staying in Xiaoling instead of Fengjian Shengjing.

However, people refused to believe the records in the history books, thinking that it was "taboo for the venerable", so they took out a case-solving case of "the empress dowager married" to explain the mystery of the tomb of Xiaozhuang Wen.

It is said that after the death of Huang Taiji, Zhuang Fei, who was in her prime (she was already the Queen Mother at this time), condescended to marry Regent Dourgen because she was unbearable to be lonely or to keep her son Shunzhi's throne. At that time, even if widows remarried in ordinary people's homes, they would be widely criticized, let alone in the royal family. To this end, the Qing royal family placed her mausoleum outside the mausoleum area and built it next to the gate of the mausoleum area, so that she could guard the mausoleum door for future generations and act as a guard to show punishment.

Whether the Queen Mother will marry or not is still inconclusive in academic circles. We don't want to force or assert here. But what I want to explain is that even if we put aside the question of whether the queen mother will marry, we can solve the mystery of the tomb of Xiaozhuang Wen.

The tomb of Empress Xiaozhuang Wen is called Zhaoxiling, which shows that it is still a system with Zhaoling, that is to say, she still belongs to Emperor Taizong. So why was this mausoleum not buried in Dongling, Qing Dynasty, but put aside outside the city gate? It's not hard to explain. The Xiaoling Mausoleum in Fu Lin is the main mausoleum in the east of Qing Dynasty. Xiaoling Mausoleum is located at the south foot of the main peak of Changrui Mountain, which is the supreme and honourable position of the mausoleum area. Dongling in the Qing Dynasty and Zhaoling outside the customs are different systems, and they must not be confused. If Zhao Qianling is built in the Feng Shui wall of the Qing Dongling, it will not only disrupt the two systems, but also be built anywhere, which is not as good as his son's Xiaoling Mausoleum and violates the law. In this way, Zhao Qianling was built outside the mausoleum area, which not only clarified the boundary between the two systems, but also met Xiao Zhuang's last wish to be with his children and grandchildren after his death.

Zhao Qianling's tomb was built on the left side of Dahongmen for a reason. Posthumous title system in Qing Dynasty started from the tomb with the highest seniority. Sourdrang queen's seniority is higher than that of the descendants buried in the Qing Dongling. When the younger generation visits the mausoleum, they will naturally start from the tomb of Zhao Qianling.

Zhao Qianling was built next to Dahongmen, which is the only place for grave robbers, providing great convenience for future generations and princes to rob graves. The Qing Dynasty advocated leftism, and leftism was the most important. Zhaoxiling is on the left of Dahongmen. The site selection of the tomb requires thick soil, fine soil, no sand and pure color, and the site selection of Zhao Qianling's tomb fully meets this requirement. From this point of view, it is the most reasonable choice to build Zhao Qianling outside the Feng Shui wall of Qing Dongling next to Dahongmen.
