History of Tingzhou Ancient City Wall
Chengguan, Changting County. In the fourth year of Tang Dynasty (769), Chen Jian, the secretariat of Tingzhou, moved the state administration from Daqiutou, Dongfang Kou (about 5 miles from Chengguan) to this site, and built a tucheng in the sunshine of Wolong Mountain. In the third year of Song Zhiping (1066), the county magistrate ordered Liu Jun to expand the city. The perimeter of the city wall is more than 5 miles, the base is 3 feet wide, the height is 1.8 feet, and the moat is 1.5 feet deep.

Jichuan in the east, Qiu Cheng in the west, Bantiao and Yinjiang in the south, Tong Yuan in the southeast and Xingxian in the northeast. In the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (137 1), the city wall was rebuilt and the "Grant Gate" was closed. Change Jichuan Gate to beginning of spring Gate, Qiu Cheng Gate to Jintongmen, Tongyuanmen to Zhennanmen and Yinjiangmen to. In the 11th year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1499), two gatehouses, Guangchumen and beginning of spring Gate, were built. In the ninth year of Chongzhen (1635), the city wall was rebuilt and the "Zhubaomen" and "Huijimen" were built. After Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, it was rebuilt several times. By 1924, most of the city walls were demolished, leaving 23/ 10.
