Jiumenkou belongs to the residual vein of Yanshan Mountain, with overlapping peaks and steep slopes. Qinglong river flows between two mountains. Rivers dry up in the dry season and mountain torrents surge in the rainy season. The water in the mountains is first-class, and the water is fast, just like "all the valleys return to Jingmen", and the stone turns to sand, which is unstoppable. During the Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty, Governor Xu Da went to Shanhaiguan to build the Great Wall. Here, in order to have high walls to resist enemies and floods, nine gates were expanded in the valley of the Great Wall. In the 18th year of Guangxu (A.D. 1892), the roadbed and six Watergate tunnels were destroyed by floods, and were rebuilt in the 30th year of Guangxu (A.D. 1904). At that time, in order to protect the Great Wall from the flood, the city builders laid continuous giant granite slats around the piers and upstream and downstream of the ground, covering an area of 7,000 square meters, and used more than 6,543,800+2,000 slats. The riverbed paved with stones under the sluice looks like huge slabs from a distance, so Jiumenkou is also called "a stone".
The vast Guancheng at Jiumenkou spans the stone floodplain, with both ends close to the cliff. Nine huge arched water gates stand tall and lined up, perching on the canyon between the two mountains. On the top lintel of the central entrance, the words "a stone" are written. There is a gully at the foot of the city, named Jiujiangkou, which is a nine-door waterway. During the flood season, the Jiujiang River flows down from the pass, looking from a distance, just like the Milky Way hanging upside down and the fairy que flying in the air. Jiumenkou Xiongguan is surrounded by mountains and waters, surrounded by the Great Wall, which passes around the city, giving people a magnificent and windy feeling.
Looking at Jiumenkou from a distance, it looks like a porous bridge, but it has nothing to do with traffic. It is said that it is not a bridge, but the top is as wide as a flat road, and several large trucks can drive side by side. Only the majestic battlements and towering watchtowers on both sides clearly tell us that this is a barrier to repel the enemy and an important pass of the Great Wall.
In September, 1984 and 12 news organizations called for sponsorship activities among millions of people in the province to raise funds for the restoration of the Jiumenkou Great Wall. From 1986 to 1989, it took four years to build four enemy towers with a wall of 840 meters. 1In September, 1998, the northern section of Jiumenkou was renovated with a loan of 200,000 US dollars from the World Bank. 2 15m was repaired for two years. 200 1, the relevant departments strive for the provincial and national cultural relics departments to invest 700,000 yuan to restore the "one stone" in half a year. At the same time, the river is reinforced and repaired, and the river sluice is built.
