The origin of this festival is because in ancient China, there was a well-read official, Qu Yuan, who loved the people and was respected. But because he was framed by jealous officials, he was left out in the imperial court. Unable to get the attention of the emperor, Qu Yuan threw himself into the Miluo River in a melancholy situation.
Residents along the Miluo River hurriedly rowed to find Qu Yuan in the river and threw rice into the Miluo River to quell the dragon in the Miluo River. Even though they didn't find Qu Yuan at that time, their behavior was still remembered during the Dragon Boat Festival.
