The Romance of the Gods, commonly known as the List of Gods, is an ancient novel about ghosts and gods in China. Written by Xu (Chen) in Ming Dynasty.
The prototype of this book can be traced back to Wu Wang's attack on Pinghua in the Southern Song Dynasty, and may also refer to the Romance of Shang and Zhou Dynasties and Travel Notes of the Eight Immortals in Kunlun. Based on the history of Jiang Ziya's assistance to Zhou Shi (Zhou Wenwang and Zhou Wuwang) in the crusade against Shang and Zhou Dynasties, this paper describes the story of Buddhism, stopping all kinds of immortals from fighting wits and fighting bravely, and beheading and sealing gods. Contains a lot of folklore and myths.
