The Story of Pandora's Box What is Pandora's Box?
Pandora, the first woman on earth made of clay by Hephaestus or Zeus in Greek mythology, was given to mankind as a punishment for Prometheus' creation of man and stealing fire. The addition of the gods made her more attractive.

According to the myth, Pandora opened the box and released all the evils in the world-greed, nothingness, slander, jealousy, pain and so on. However, according to the wishes of the father of the gods, Pandora closed the lid and kept it in the box forever before she hoped to release it.

Therefore, Pandora's box is often used to refer to the source of disaster in English, and opening Pandora's box means causing all kinds of disasters.

Pandora's myth has a long history, with different versions and interpretations from different angles. However, in all literary versions, this myth is regarded as a natural theology to explain the existence of evil in the world. In the 7th century BC, hesiod was the earliest literary work about Pandora's story in his Genealogy, Works and Days.

Legend 1

Pandora lives with Epimetheus. Soon after, Prometheus brought Epimetheus a big box and told him repeatedly not to open it, but Pandora was a curious woman. Prometheus' repeated story made her want to open the box. She thought, why should an ordinary box be kept secret? Why is it so tight? When Epimetheus went out, Pandora quietly opened the box, but there was nothing Pandora expected, only countless disasters and pests. Before Pandora opened the box, human beings lived quietly without disaster, because all virus diseases were locked in the box, so that human beings could not be tortured. Because of Pandora's curiosity, disasters and plagues escaped. Since then, disasters have hurt and tortured human beings day and night.

In panic and fear, Pandora quietly closed the box, leaving the only beautiful thing in the box-hope.

Therefore, even if human beings are tortured and tortured by life, there is always precious hope to inspire themselves. Before death, hope always exists, and life is absolutely full of beautiful hope.

Legend 2

Prometheus warned his younger brother not to accept any gifts from Zeus on Mount Olympus, but to return them immediately. However, Epimetheus forgot this warning and accepted this beautiful young woman happily. It was not until later that he suffered a lot that he realized that he had brought disaster to mankind. Before that, human beings followed Prometheus' warning, so there was no terrible disaster, no hard work and no disease. Now, this charming Pandora has a gift in her hand, which is a big closed box. As soon as she arrived in Epimetheus, she suddenly opened the lid of the box. The disaster inside flew out like black smoke and quickly spread to the ground. There is still a beautiful thing hidden at the bottom of the box: hope, but according to the advice of Zeus, the father of the gods, Pandora closed the lid before it flew out, so Athena's hope of saving mankind at the bottom of the box will be locked in the box forever. Since then, all kinds of disasters have flooded the earth, the sky and the ocean. The disease spread day and night in the crowd, but they kept silent because Zeus wouldn't let them make a sound. All kinds of fevers ravage the earth, and death ravages the whole world.
