I. Composition of the College
Overall, the university has 18 academic departments, including business administration, medicine and social sciences, and offers more than 200 degree courses. The main teaching language of Munich University is German. However, the institution does offer some master's degree courses in English, including economics, neurocognitive psychology and software engineering. The academic calendar of the university takes the semester as the unit, and the courses start from June 10 and April. The University of Munich has about 50 research centers, such as Neuropathology Center, Quantitative Risk Analysis Center and Munich Ethics Center. The university also has more than a dozen external cooperative research institutions, including the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts and the Lawyers Law Institute.

The campus in the center of the university is the base camp of social science and humanities, while the "high-tech campus" in the southeast of the city is the base camp of natural science and life science. In the last year, more than half of the students in the university were studying undergraduate courses. Students at Munich University usually don't pay tuition. However, some English-taught degree courses in schools charge tuition fees. A limited number of student dormitories are provided by StudentenwerkMünchen or Munich Student Union (a public organization).
