What does meticulous painting mean?
Meticulous painting, also known as "fine painting", is one of the categories of Chinese painting techniques. It depicts scenery with meticulous brushwork, as opposed to freehand brushwork. Meticulous painting is a kind of meticulous painting, such as courtyard painting in Song Dynasty and figure painting in Chou Ying in Ming Dynasty. Meticulous painting requires "cleverness and precision" (Han Zhuo's Complete Works of Mountains and Waters in Northern Song Dynasty), and meticulous painting can be expressed by ink painting, light crimson, turquoise, resplendent and magnificent, and boundary painting. Meticulous painting has a long history, originated in the Warring States and prevailed in the Tang Dynasty. After the end of the Ming Dynasty, with the introduction of western painting techniques into China, Chinese and western paintings learned from each other, making meticulous painting more accurate in modeling. Meticulous painting develops along the track of combining literature, calligraphy, philosophy and poetic language, absorbs the elements of the new visual art language in the East and the West, expands the new field of materials and techniques, and integrates the sketch and rendering of traditional meticulous painting, the decoration of plane expression, western realism and dreamy artistic conception into contemporary meticulous painting.
