There are two schools in Changzhou: Xu and Bai. Xu is freehand brushwork, while Bai is realistic. Bai Shifeng can be regarded as a contemporary master of bamboo carving. The Bai Sect was founded in the late 1970s. It took him three years to carve the bamboo slips "The Art of War", a full set of 13 articles with more than 6,000 words, which was laid flat on the ground of about 9 square meters and became a masterpiece in the history of bamboo carving. Singaporean collectors bought this work from Changzhou Institute of Arts and Crafts for 30,000 yuan, and a few years later, collectors in Taiwan Province Province collected it for 600,000 yuan, which was really sky-high in that year.
