The origin of pu' er
According to legend, around the 7th century AD, there was a large-scale plague in Simao and Xishuangbanna, the "furuncle area" under the jurisdiction of the ancient Nanzhao State, with heavy disasters and numerous casualties. Bodhisattva samantabhadra incarnated as an old farmer to save the people and picked big leaves for the people to cook and drink. There is no cure for the plague. In order to appreciate the kindness of the Bodhisattva, local residents have widely planted Daye tea since then and named it Pu 'er, because it looks like Pu Xian's ears. In Buddhism, "water" represents compassion, and the combination of the two is called "Pu 'er", which is the earliest myth and legend of Pu 'er tea.
