Can novels bear witness to history?
A novel is a literary work. The creation of novels mainly conveys the author's emotional views through writing skills, and realizes necessary or as much interest feedback as possible by improving readers' interest in reading. Therefore, the plot and material of the novel itself, whether it is a description of real events in real life or not, can not be used as evidence of any real events in essence.

However, novels at any time and any place, since the stories told are to be understood by others, must conform to the local people's conscious environment at that time. Therefore, novels objectively contain certain display information, especially realistic literary works including novels, which can provide necessary real life information.

Back to the problem itself, novels can reflect the historical state and contain certain historical clues, but history cannot be analyzed through novel materials, but must be proved through other actual historical events and physical objects.
