Neither of these statements is accurate. It was during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. At that time, some northern minorities also went south to participate in the competition, and basically integrated into the big family of the Chinese nation. The first great ethnic integration in China's history should be in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. Due to the "Eight Kings Rebellion" in the Western Jin Dynasty, the national strength of the Central Plains Dynasty was extremely exhausted. Northern minorities took the opportunity to go south and established political power one after another.

For example, the Northern Wei of Xianbei people (as well as the Eastern Wei and Western Wei), the post-Zhao of Jie people, the pre-Qin of Yan people and so on. Some of these regimes were extremely barbaric, such as the regime of Zhao, a Jie ethnic group, which was later wiped out by the Han people. As a dominant ethnic group in ancient China, the Jie ethnic group also disappeared in the fog of history.

Others, such as Xianbei people and Jinnu people, are mostly integrated into the Chinese nation and become a part of it.
