In response to China's strategy of rejuvenating traditional culture and improving young people's historical and cultural literacy, the organizing committee of the "Yanyuan Cup" middle school students' historical writing competition officially started to register for the second competition under the academic guidance of Peking University History Department, Nankai University History College and Northeast Normal University History and Culture College. The contest hopes that by participating in historical writing, middle school students can savor the past events of their families and the local customs of their hometown, learn to pay attention to history, explore the historical truth, feel and restore the history around them from the perspective of bystanders and the experience of insiders, trace back their blood ties, academic affiliation and pedigree of local development, clarify their roles and missions in the long history, and take the initiative to assume the social responsibilities entrusted by their families, schools, communities and even the state. At the same time, the contest hopes to inspire middle school students to discover the history around them, explore the historical truth, cultivate their interest in history, train them to master the methods and ways of historical research, acquire the norms and skills of historical writing, and cultivate their basic historical writing ability.
