Haicheng Tongze Middle School is located in the southeast of Haicheng, facing north, with geographical coordinates of 40 23 ′ north latitude and122 40 ′ east longitude.

Tongze Middle School faces Hecheng River in the south and Huangyushan in the north, with beautiful scenery. Tongze Middle School has been engaged in education since its establishment and has never changed. So the atmosphere of study style on campus is very strong. As the learning leaders improve the campus environment in stages, the campus environment is very beautiful, with romantic flowers in spring and summer and cypresses in autumn and winter. It was rated as a provincial key middle school and a garden-style school in Liaoning Province.

Tongze Middle School is located at the foot of Huang Yu Mountain in Haicheng City, with Hecheng River in the north. There are seven red brick buildings with a total construction area of 15 186 square meters and an area of 75,375 square meters. The original building has an office building with a building area of 2,892 square meters, two dormitory buildings with a building area of 1855 square meters, and a vocational education building (teaching building) with a building area of 200 square meters. The four two-story main buildings on campus are all modern buildings with the prefix. Brick and wood structure, cement tile, cement sand ash cover. There are also canteens, kitchens, boiler rooms, garages, guard rooms and other ancillary buildings, some of which were newly built after liberation.

Tongze Middle School was built by General Zhang Xueliang, a famous patriotic general in China's modern history, who promoted the New Deal and trained talents with an investment of 402,000 silver. Taking "Tongze" as the name of the school, which is taken from "No Clothes, Being with the Son" in the Book of Songs, aims to cultivate the children of Mulberry, share the same enemy and avenge their country.

1982, Zhang was killed by the Japanese in Huanggutun. His son, Zhang Xueliang, allocated 5 million silver dollars from his family property as an education fund to support Northeastern University. He raised another 400,000 yuan and founded Tongze Middle School in Haicheng, his birthplace. In August of the same year, Zhang Xueliang hired fellow villagers Chen Xingya (commander of Northeast Gendarmerie), Fan Langqing (speaker of Liaoning Provincial Assembly), Jiang Yutian (president of Bianye Bank), Liu Mingjiu (director of Liaoning Commercial Department) and Chen (director of education of Haicheng County) to prepare for the board of directors of Haicheng Tongze Middle School. Zhang Xueliang became the chairman, and the school board elected Sun Enyuan as the principal, responsible for preparing the selection of school site, the construction of school buildings and so on. Fu, the county magistrate, helped to buy 320 mu of original vegetable fields at the southern foot of the southeast mountain of the city, which were designed and drawn by the company, and the provincial standard was handed over to Yichuan Company, a Chinese businessman, with a price of 6.5438+0.8 million yuan. 1929 April 15 broke ground, 193 1 officially accepted and used at the beginning of the year.

1929 starts school in autumn, and two classes are recruited for the first time. At that time, before the school building was built, a temporary wooden house was built to attend classes by using the Tianqi Temple in the city. 1931April 15, the inauguration ceremony of the school building was held. Zhang Xueliang fell ill in Beijing on his way home from the south, and Chen Xingya cut the ribbon instead. More than 1000 people congratulated.

Although the school was private at that time, the syllabus was mostly in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry, and only Japanese was set as a second foreign language, plus military sports training and martial arts classes. At that time, a wall was dug around the campus and pines and cypresses were planted everywhere. Because the campus is spacious and there are many open spaces, all the students are given a vegetable garden, and a gardener is hired to lead the students to get it and cook food.

The highest decision-making body of the school affairs organization is the school board, which meets once a year. The school administration has a principal, which consists of four departments, namely, Academic Affairs Office, Training Office, Sports Office and Affairs Office, each with a director. Teachers are recruited from outstanding talents in universities at home and abroad and scholars and writers with rich teaching experience. Therefore, the teaching quality is higher than that of ordinary middle schools.

At that time, the school motto was "patriotism, knowledge, honesty and diligence". The school emblem is designed with the sunrise and the rise of Dongshan as the background. In the September 18th Incident, the Japanese army invaded Haicheng, and the school was ravaged and forced to suspend classes. After the fall of Northeast China, teachers and students in Northeast China could not bear to be conquered people, so more than 40 people from Tongze Middle School, under the leadership of Zhang Xueliang, borrowed the warehouse of Beijing Social Bureau in Piku Hutong, Xidan, Beijing to establish Northeast Middle School, determined to resist Japan and save the country, and engaged in the cause of recovering their homeland. Since then, there has been a "normal school" in the former site of Tongze Middle School. During the period of Kuomintang rule, the Third Normal School was forcibly moved here. After many vicissitudes, the campus was almost burned down.

After liberation, Tongze Middle School returned to the people's arms and opened a high school at the original site. For more than half a century, the school has carried forward the school spirit of "patriotism, knowledge, honesty and hard work", trained tens of thousands of talents for the country and made important contributions to the liberation of the Chinese nation and socialist construction.

In order to record the achievements of General Zhang Xueliang, educate the masses on patriotism and revolutionary tradition, revitalize China with one heart and one mind, and promote the early realization of the great cause of peaceful reunification of the motherland, the former site of Tongze Middle School was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit in Haicheng by the Haicheng Municipal People's Government in May 2006 1986.
