Interpretation principle of redemption history

Tang chonghuai

Generally speaking, the interpretation of the Bible has three premises: the revelation of God, the revelation of God and the history of redemption. Revelation is the free operation of God, which means that God opens his secrets to people with his own body and is willing to let them know. Hint is a special operation of revelation. God asked people to record his Tao in human language. In the inspiration operation of the Holy Spirit, the conservative man wrote his truth without error. Therefore, revelation and suggestion are all acts of God's kindness, making people understand his mind. But the history of redemption is somewhat different. Salvation is the central content and behavior of God's revelation and suggestion, and it is God's communication with people in the process of their creation and existence. Through the fulfillment of redemption and the operation of God's redemption in human history, people have a real, concrete and existing understanding of God's will, so that people can't shirk God's actions. Because of this, the redemption of history also pays the heavy responsibility of biblical truth interpretation. In other words, the Tao of God should be interpreted and understood in the context of redemption history.

First, the explanation and clarification of the history of redemption:

The so-called history of redemption is to see from the Bible revealed by God, that is, from the Old Testament, how God's loving hand prepared and achieved eternal salvation in Christ Jesus through his chosen race. This salvation is achieved all over the world through the establishment and persistence of the church until Christ returns. In other words, the history of redemption is the process and end of the kingdom of God in the history of Christ and mankind. It is the core and peak of God's revelation, the embodiment of all revelation and existence, and the secret of all truth. It is not only a record and evolution of a fait accompli, but also an ongoing deductive history.

Second, the interpretation of the history of redemption:

God's redemption work and affirmation of the enlightenment of redemption history show that if one wants to know the truth, one must know the truth in the category and context of redemption history. In other words, without the Redeemer, he cannot know the truth. Theologically, it is usually called the principle of interpretation centered on Christ or society. This is exactly what Paul said: "because everything was created by him ... everything was created by him and for him." Everything was on his side before everything was created. He is also the leader of the whole church. He started from the Yuan Dynasty.

In fact, Christ is not only the foundation of all creation and existence, but also the meaningful foundation of all creation and existence. Therefore, without Christ's redemption, all existence can state God's power, but it can't tell God's love and justice, and the true meaning of meaning can't be complete and true. For this reason, Paul went on to say, "Because the Father likes to enrich all things and abide in him. Because the blood he shed on the cross has made peace. "

All redemption achieved by Christ is reconciliation with God, and the peace achieved by redemption makes people clearly understand the mind of the Creator, thus improving the meaning of existence and ensuring the correctness of interpretation. Therefore, without Christ and his cross, the truth of existence cannot be explained, because all unsaved meanings will become nothingness and falsehood; Only in the state of salvation of reconciliation with God can life and its meaning be affirmed and explained. This is the explanatory significance of redemption and redemption history.

Third, the historical interpretation of redemption:

Generally speaking, the explanatory function of history is often limited to redemption and religious or moral fields. In fact, since the meaning and scope of redemption are affirmed, the meaning of explanation cannot be limited to some aspects of existence, but must be extended to any existence. In this way, the explanatory function of redemption history is of course pushed to any level of life. In other words, people should explore the meaning and value of any existence from the standpoint of redemption. This is the characteristic of human existence and the way people seek meaning and interpretation.

From the operational standpoint of thinking, all thinking should have a foothold, direction and purpose. The starting point and route of knowledge and thinking are by no means accidental and directionless. Scientific search and discussion is nothing more than affirming existence and self in self-denial, and self can only be improved in the guarantee of redemption. Otherwise, any operation and action of human beings is nothing more than a cruel tragedy of self-destruction.

Although the history of mankind is full of tragedies, we have determined the desire and pursuit of redemption and release from the frequent search of mankind. These pursuits will find the right answer in Christ's redemption. For this reason, Paul said unequivocally, "All the riches of God's nature live in Christ in a tangible way, and you have been enriched in him. He is the head of all rulers and authorities "(Col. 2: 9- 10).

Fourthly, the application of redemption history in interpreting the Bible:

As far as the Ministry of church and pastor is concerned, interpreting the Bible is the primary task of the church. Whether it is evangelism, missionary work, truth interpretation and platform service, churches and pastors should focus on the interpretation of the Bible and the truth of the Bible. The purpose of interpretation is nothing more than planting the revelation and truth implied by God in the hearts of God's children, so that they can be equipped to witness God's truth in their lives, so that God's kingdom can be realized and God's will can be achieved.

In carrying out this important task, the church has formulated a fixed interpretation principle, and the most basic interpretation principle is the classic interpretation principle. The interpretation of redemption history is the true embodiment of the core principles of classical interpretation, because the concept of redemption history affirms that the only system and concept of biblical revelation is the appearance, realization and continuation of God's redemption plan. To this end, the application of redemption history interpretation includes the following points:

A) Enlightenment and realization of God's eternal redemption

Any record in the Bible is based on the promise of Christ's redemption and the route of its realization and achievement. In this system, God shows his strength, justice, love and compassion. People are also guaranteed by truth in this category. God's redemption in Christ also brings people general and special enlightenment.

B) the experience and confirmation of God's people

God's people include voters in the Old Testament and saints in the New Testament. It also includes present and future believers. These people became the gathering of Messiah, the church that God redeemed in Christ. It is precisely because this church has experienced and confirmed God's redemption, continued God's actions and completed the history of redemption that the church has become the pillar and foundation of truth (in advance 1. 3: 15). Therefore, the explanation of redemption history can only be carried out in the church and the experience of church life. Without the church, so is the history of redemption.

C) the position and significance of the church in the history of redemption

In the process of interpreting the Bible, the church is the key factor. Since the church is the concrete realization of God's redemption plan, the church naturally becomes a platform and forum for truth interpretation, and believers can understand the meaning of truth under the guidance of the church and priests through the confirmation of the Holy Spirit. This is also a confirmation of the process of pastoral communication between priests and believers, and the current significance of truth has also been affirmed. So the Bible has become the living word of the living God. If the study and discussion of the Bible can't bring living information to the church, it must be because it has abandoned the field of the Truth Church. In this way, the result of discussion and research or judgment becomes a golden apple without a silver net, which falls to the ground and rots.

The church confirmed the simplicity and universality of the history of salvation. God's salvation in Christ is unique and pure, because there is no other name in the world, so we can be saved by it (Acts 4: 12). The church is the only bride of Christ. Everyone who asks for the name of the Lord in the world becomes Christ in the church. Truth and truth are also affirmed by the whole church because of the work of the Holy Spirit in the church. The interpretation and understanding of truth by believers and churches everywhere is also brought into the torrent of truth meaning in this historical purity and universality of salvation. The details of interpretation may vary from place to place, but these differences will eventually be diluted, washed and blended in this torrent. The meaning of truth will not be affected, but will increase and expand until the knowledge of Jehovah fills the whole earth, just as water fills the ocean.

For this reason, the experience of saints and the experience of biblical truth is not the basis of truth interpretation, but it can also be the testimony of Tao. Because God's people's experience of the Tao is a continuation of the history of redemption and a reason to praise believers. Although the witness of believers' life is not the basis of faith, since it is the extension of redemption history in time domain, it will inevitably become the result and witness of truth operation, which is a link that can not be ignored in the interpretation of truth by the church.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) conclusion:

Although the Bible explains many principles, we can't leave Christ and Christ's redemption. This is the key to the biblical interpretation of Christology and redemption in hermeneutics. In fact, what is the meaning and value of human existence without Christ and redemption? All this is reflected in the history of redemption. From the perspective of revelation, Christ has become our wisdom, justice, holiness and redemption (1 Cor. 1. 1:30). Who am I? I have nothing to admire (Psalm 73:25). In Christ's redemption, we are both complete and perfect, which is the proof of the historical extension of redemption. As a pastor who interprets the Bible, without Christ and Christ's salvation, how to explain and clarify the way of the Lord! Therefore, we should not be ashamed of the gospel, because the gospel is the power of God to save all who believe. 1: 16). This is the characteristic of preaching and teaching.
