The Development History of Mitsubishi Machine Tool in Japan
History of numerical control in Japan

The Japanese government attaches great importance to the development of machine tool industry and guides the development through planning and laws (such as Mechanical Vibration Law, Electromechanical Law and Mechanical Information Law). Learn from Germany in attaching importance to talents and machine tool parts, and learn from the United States in quality management and CNC machine tool technology, even shine on you is better than Blue. Since 1958 developed the first CNC machine tool, the output of 1978 (7342 sets) has surpassed that of the United States (5688 sets), and its output and export volume have always ranked first in the world (200 1 produced 46604 sets, with 27409 sets exported, accounting for 59%). Strategically, mid-range CNC machine tools with large and wide output are exported in large quantities, occupying a vast global market. In 1980s, we began to further strengthen scientific research and develop into high-performance CNC machine tools. Japan FANUC Company has a correct strategy, combines imitation and creation, and develops all kinds of low, medium and high-grade numerical control systems needed by the market with leading technology and the highest output in the world. The company has 3674 employees, more than 600 scientific researchers and a monthly production capacity of 7000 units. Its sales account for 50% of the world market and 70% of the China market, which has played a great role in accelerating the development of CNC machine tools in Japan and even in the world.

History of Mitsubishi system development

Since the first CNC machine tool was born in the United States in 1952, mitsubishi electric started the research and development of CNC system in 1956. Up to now, it has a development history of more than 50 years, which makes it rich in CNC system development experience and superior product performance. However, due to the late arrival in China, users only learned about Mitsubishi CNC system from imported equipment. With mitsubishi electric's increasing attention to the China market in recent years, Mitsubishi CNC system ranks among the top three in the middle and high-end CNC system in China, and its product performance is constantly recognized by the market and users (especially the mold industry).

Mitsubishi CNC, as a general CNC system, has experienced several generations of product upgrading and continuous technological innovation and upgrading from the early M3/M50/M500 series to the mainstream M60S/E60/E68 series.

M3/L3 CNC system is a fully functional CNC system product developed by Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan in the mid-1980s, which is suitable for CNC milling machines, machining centers (3M) and CNC lathes (3L).

Later, Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan developed MELDAS 50 series numerical control system in the mid-1990s. Among them, MELDAS50 series is divided into several product specifications, such as drilling machine control 50D, milling machine/machining center control 50M, lathe control 50L, grinder control 50G and so on. According to different uses.

In 2008, in order to improve the market demand for Mitsubishi CNC system, Mitsubishi introduced the integrated M70 series products, which have better cost performance than the high-end M700 series.

M70 series is positioned in Chinese mainland market, and there are two products at present, Intelligent (70A) and Standard (70B) with high-speed PLC engine.

Now, M70 series numerical control system, which inherits most of the technologies and new functions of M700 series, has become the main model of Mitsubishi Electric Automation (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

Other miscellaneous materials of Mitsubishi brand can be sorted by themselves:

Mitsubishi is a famous brand. Among Mitsubishi products, wire cutting and spark machine business is undoubtedly an important part, which has made rapid development in the fields of mechanical processing and mold manufacturing. As a member of mitsubishi electric Group, mitsubishi electric Automation has been committed to providing customers with professional, high-quality and effective products, equipment and solutions in industrial automation, power control and other related business fields. Its products are widely used in machinery, metallurgy, electric power, steel, food, beverage, packaging, petrochemical and automobile, IT electronics, household appliance mold manufacturing and other fields, providing comprehensive support for all aspects of social life and production, and enjoying a high reputation in domestic companies and foreign companies in China.

First of all, as a global comprehensive company, mitsubishi electric's comprehensive technological advantages in various fields over the years are unmatched by other manufacturers. For example, Mitsubishi applied its most advanced technology and excellent products, such as numerical control system, frequency converter and electrical switch, to its own machine tools, which not only maintained the technical stability, but also reduced the cost. Secondly, Mitsubishi has a strong R&D team, with fast technology update and fast vehicle model update. Basically, more than one new product is launched every year, which is beyond the reach of other companies. In addition, Mitsubishi's factory in China is relatively mature. Dalian factory has a history of ten years, and has a certain scale. At the rate of 65,438+020 sets per month, it has introduced machine tools suitable for China market and in line with relevant standards of China. Adopt a complete set of management system, including quality, procurement, main parts and packaging, which is completely unified with Japanese companies, ensuring the advanced technology and product stability from the technical level.

In addition to the advanced nature and stability of products, the sustainable development of enterprises is closely related to their product sales. On the sales model, mitsubishi electric adopts the sales agent system. The advantages of using agents for sales are as follows: first, the production cost is controllable, and the production cost remains basically controllable regardless of market growth or decline; Secondly, the agency system can quickly occupy the market and achieve rapid expansion; Third, realize resource optimization, reduce the cost of training a large number of sales personnel, and invest the profits and resources obtained in R&D more effectively. Mitsubishi's management of agents is strict, and it conducts training for agents twice a year. In the process of agency sales, Mitsubishi implements the filing system, which has two functions. First, protect the interests of agents, who make great efforts to tap customers and protect their own interests by filing with the company; Second, protect the interests of end customers. At present and for a long time to come, Mitsubishi will not divide its China market into regions, which is an important measure to protect users' interests, because without regional division, there will be no market monopoly in a certain region, and customers can get more reasonable and real prices.

Adhering to the concept of serving global customers and establishing service centers, mitsubishi electric has established technical service centers, maintenance service centers, customer training centers and application demonstration centers in Shanghai, Ningbo, Tianjin, Dalian, Shenzhen and Dongguan to provide customers with perfect technical consultation, technical training and after-sales service, and provide customers with overall solutions to help them enhance their competitiveness. Customers can visit the center to watch the machine tool processing demonstration, or put forward specific requirements, provide samples, use the machine tools in each center for trial processing, and get the best solution and professional training services.

The development history of mitsubishi electric EDM is also the development history of EDM. Starting from 1967, mitsubishi electric started the basic research and development of EDM, and then constantly sought the best way to improve machining accuracy and production efficiency. For many years, mitsubishi electric has been in the leading position in the global EDM industry, and its professional development and research departments are engaged in the research of improving machining speed, machining accuracy, developing new machining technology and developing optimal control technology. In addition to Japan, mitsubishi electric set up an EDM factory in Dalian, China in the early 1990s. With the current rising energy and manufacturing costs, manufacturers pay more and more attention to the energy consumption in the manufacturing process. In terms of energy saving, mitsubishi electric ranks among Japanese enterprises, and its energy saving concept runs through every detail of the equipment: power supply, control system, drive motor, water pump for handling liquid, and so on. According to the latest market feedback, the power consumption of Mitsubishi FA20S-advance is 30% lower than that of similar products. At the same time, mitsubishi electric Dalian Factory itself is a demonstration factory of energy saving, which integrates the concept and practice of energy saving and consumption reduction into the whole production process, providing a visual model for energy saving and consumption reduction in manufacturing industry.

Mitsubishi electric provides the overall solution, and the power distribution, machine tool control and monitoring of the workshop are all integrated and visualized. Different from the traditional workshop, mitsubishi electric's integrated solution connects all the processing machines through the network. Whether all the machine tools are in the process of processing or stopped can be seen at a glance on the computer at the other end. What is the specific electricity consumption at the specific time? Mitsubishi electric provides users with horizontal and vertical comparative models of the differences in material consumption, production rhythm, processing effect and workers' proficiency in processing the same product under the same conditions. The total solution provided by mitsubishi electric makes customers feel higher efficiency and unprecedented convenience. Users can not only achieve the most efficient production, but also optimize training, operation and management, thus reducing the comprehensive cost.

EDM machine tools have irreplaceable advantages in the field of mechanical processing. As a non-contact machining, there is no contact between the electrode and the material, so there is no need to consider the tool loss caused by contact machining in high-speed milling. At the same time, EDM has no requirement on the hardness of machining materials, and ceramics and diamonds can be used as machining objects. For some molds with complex contours, sharp corners, narrow slits, etc. EDM machine tools are more convenient and cheaper. Mitsubishi electric's R&D direction has been developing towards high precision. Mitsubishi EDM machine tools constantly bring forth the old and bring forth the new, constantly meet the changing market demand, and constantly introduce a new series of machine tools with a strong lineup. Its latest FA20S Advance is the main model in Mitsubishi's current market. The machining accuracy can reach more than 3 ~ 4 microns, and the surface smoothness can be obtained. Mitsubishi electric's product structure is distinct. According to customers' processing needs and economic affordability, there are high, medium and low-grade products, and users can choose machines with different performances and prices. At present, mitsubishi electric is well-known in the mass market. In the future, it will focus on introducing machines with high technical content and low demand for raw materials and labor. We are not simply selling a product, but more importantly, we are providing integrated solutions for the manufacturing industry.

The new product EA 12A EDM equipment adopts the newly developed control device ADVANCE and upgraded V power supply, which has sensitive real-time control capability. Compared with the past, the improved power supply has greatly improved discharge accuracy and further reduced energy consumption, and has become a real "green" power supply. EA 12A adopts network-based control technology, which makes remote control and diagnosis possible. In the overall structure of the equipment, this model adopts semi-closed structure, which skillfully isolates it from heating elements and external heat, so that the key precision parts are always kept at a constant temperature, eliminating the influence of temperature on accuracy. The new NA series WEDM machine adopts the unique energy control technology developed by Mitsubishi Company, which can apply corresponding discharge energy at different height points according to the thickness of the workpiece during cutting, thus eliminating the deterioration of vertical accuracy caused by electrode wire loss and greatly improving the straightness of the cutting surface. The constant tension technology of electrode wire developed by Mitsubishi can ensure the wireless marking of cutting surface, and the unique linear electrode control technology can ensure the cutting accuracy below 2 microns.

What is the biggest advantage of Mitsubishi products?

The advantages of Mitsubishi products lie in our powerful R&D technology, flexible sales and marketing strategies, and quick response to meet users' needs. Pay attention to the first-hand feedback from end users and adjust our product research and development direction and sales strategy accordingly. Market share is only a way to reflect brand awareness, and temporarily increasing market share may be achieved through price wars and product dumping in the low-end market. Of course, Mitsubishi will also pay attention to this point when investigating the current market situation, but we think that sales volume and quality, sales volume and popularity, sales volume and recognition cannot be equated. What Mitsubishi pursues is how to maintain the rapid and healthy development of the enterprise, pursue continuous improvement and launch products that meet the market demand and better meet the requirements of users. These are all things that Mitsubishi attaches great importance to.

From the perspective of product strategy, "from' mold Mitsubishi' to' universal Mitsubishi' is the new product concept of Mitsubishi CNC system." Zhao Hongwei, senior manager of computer numerical control device department of Mitsubishi Electric Automation (China) Co., Ltd. said.

Reporter: According to your analysis and the current development trend of CNC technology, what direction do you think the focus of Mitsubishi CNC product development will be?

Zhao Hongwei: The so-called high-end CNC system generally covers two concepts: one is a high-speed and high-precision CNC system, and the other is a CNC system used by large machine tools; The other is a five-axis numerical control system. Because it involves Japanese national policy, the high-end CNC system currently promoted by Mitsubishi in China market still belongs to the first concept mentioned above.

Judging from the current market development, the future CNC system will develop in the direction of high speed, high precision, high reliability, intelligence, simple debugging and convenient use.

High speed, the first performance is high feed speed, and the second is to require high spindle motor speed and short acceleration and deceleration time. Especially in recent two years, due to more product processing than mold processing, users' requirements for positioning speed and spindle speed of machine tools are getting higher and higher in motor speed. Two or three years ago, the user's requirement for the speed of the feed motor was only about 3000r/min, but now generally speaking, the minimum requirement should reach 4000 ~ 5000 r/min; The change of spindle motor speed requirements has also increased from the traditional 6000~8000r/min to the present 10000r/min, 15000r/min, even exceeding the speed of 20000r/min, and this demand is still increasing.

Secondly, high precision is also one of the necessary indexes of high-end CNC system. For example, when Foxconn processes 3G mobile phone workpieces, it often encounters unqualified processing dimensions when using general numerical control system. The reason is that the position of some dead corners can't be machined, and the accuracy can't meet the requirements. However, after using Mitsubishi M700 series numerical control system, they can accurately process the workpiece according to their desired size through the high-speed and high-precision detection function in the numerical control system. This is the function of Mitsubishi high-end CNC system.

In addition, the machining accuracy of CNC system can be reflected in the machining of complex surfaces. Generally speaking, the manual programming of large-scale machining programs is more complicated. Nowadays, many NC programming software will generate a large number of complex surface programs. The machining of complex surfaces is realized by interpolation of tiny line segments. For CNC system, it is to realize feedback from the internal operation of CNC controller and driver to the resolution of motor encoder. At present, the interpolation accuracy of Mitsubishi M70 and M700 series can reach nanometer level. At present, there are also so-called nano-level controllers in China, but it is difficult to start with CNC controllers and drivers and motors. Mitsubishi puts forward "completely nano-scale" and provides a complete set of systems for users. Nano-scale means that in the processing of tiny line segments, the motor can run more smoothly without affecting the processing speed, thus improving the surface quality of the workpiece.

Reporter: I remember the last time I interviewed you was in July 2009. You put forward the concept of "same Mitsubishi, different experiences". After a lapse of nine months, we would like to know what new products and services Mitsubishi can bring to machine tool enterprises and end users today.

Zhao Hongwei: Before 2009, Mitsubishi's main business was hardware, and there were few supporting software for CNC systems such as controllers, drivers and servo motors. Since the second half of 2009, we have introduced M70 and M700 one after another, and the supporting software of numerical control system began to increase, and most of them were provided to machine tool plants free of charge. These softwares include servo adjustment, parameter setting and communication, which can greatly improve the installation efficiency of customers.

In addition, using CF card to store programs in M70 and M700 also provides great convenience for users. The traditional way is to store the machining program by computer, and then send the machining code to NC through RS232 cable, and then carry out machining. This way is called DNC mode. Now with the improvement of numerical control system, this traditional DNC method has been gradually eliminated, because RS232 transmission has many shortcomings. First, it is easy to be disturbed. Second, due to poor grounding, it is easy to damage the CNC system and computer; Third, the transmission distance and speed will also be limited. So now the new method is to transmit through Ethernet, use CF memory card (large capacity) in the controller, and then call the program in CF card for processing. After the completion of CAD/CAM, the post-processing program is generated, and its processing code can be stored in CF card through Ethernet. If the NC system can directly call the program from the CF card, or even edit the program, the realization of this idea is very convenient for users. These functions are provided to users as standard functions of Mitsubishi CNC system. Related to this, the unique feature of Mitsubishi M70/M700 series is that it can edit the processing program above 10M online. This is rare in the same level of CNC system, which greatly facilitates the use and operation of users.

In addition, M70 and M700 series CNC systems also provide good compatibility for users' secondary development. Taking M70 as an example, users can develop their own customized images, which can meet the requirements of specific customers' processing habits. For example, the gear machining machine tool is a special machine tool, and its operation is different from that of ordinary machining centers. Users can customize the simple settings in the screen to make the CNC system conform to the processing habits of the industry. M700 also provides users with space for self-development, and can realize tool life management. All the pictures are developed in C language.

The M700 series positioned by Mitsubishi is in the same grade as FANUC's 3 1i and Siemens' 840D. It has a high cost performance in large machine tools and high-speed and high-precision machining applications, and from the current sales situation, the market demand for large machine tools is very strong. With the promotion of Mitsubishi high-end CNC system M700, the competition in the high-end CNC system market will become increasingly fierce, which will benefit more users and contribute to the development of high-end machine tool manufacturing in China.

Reporter: What new measures has Mitsubishi launched in China to help and serve users?

Zhao Hongwei: After the international financial crisis broke out in June 5438+ 10, 2008, Mitsubishi launched the "Tour of 100 Enterprises" and achieved certain results, with 20% of newly developed users. At present, such activities are still in progress.

In June, 2009, a telephone hotline for CNC products was added to the existing "Call Center" of Mitsubishi Corporation, which can respond to various problems of users in using Mitsubishi CNC products. In addition, in the past, the 800 after-sales service hotlines in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen comprehensively covered the consulting business from pre-sales, sales to after-sales.

Starting from June 5438+ 10, 2009, Mitsubishi Corporation has conducted CNC course training (e-Learning) through Ethernet. In terms of CNC products, there are currently five courses for you to choose from, and more courses will be added in the future. No matter whether it is a machine tool factory or an end user, as long as there is a network, they can go to Mitsubishi's website, choose courses and learn their feelings through interaction. Users can also choose the online exam after completing the course and download the certificate after passing it. Mitsubishi electric is the first company to provide free online course training services. With the continuous promotion of e-Learning, factory automation products in mitsubishi electric will become more and more popular, thus realizing our pursuit of product reputation.
