Yunnan Lacquerware in Lacquer Art
Yunnan lacquerware began in Qin and Han Dynasties. With the excavation of Wuchi Road, the local lacquer culture gradually collided with the Central Plains lacquer culture. Nevertheless, Yunnan lacquer art still maintains its own unique style, with the typical lacquer technology of Yunnan Yi people. The lacquerware techniques of the Yi people in the Qing Dynasty included "inlaying lacquer", "painting decoration", "wearing color", "dyeing gold" and "hiding flowers". The lacquer gourd with leather tires now preserved in the Palace Museum in Beijing is a representative work of Yi lacquerware in Qing Dynasty. Yi lacquerware has three colors: red, yellow and black. Yunnan lacquerware is famous for its simple and bright colors. In modern times, there have also been many skilled old artists. The famous one is Mr. Yan Xifan. On the basis of inheriting the traditional lacquer art in Yunnan, he absorbed the advantages of other lacquer arts and combined with lacquer craft to create a new variety of lacquer line carving. His works are eagerly collected by overseas people.
