What is the curriculum of American high schools?
American high school courses are generally divided into elective courses, compulsory courses, honor courses, AP courses and IB courses.

The compulsory courses in American high schools include math, English, science, history, a second foreign language and art, while ordinary high schools in China usually have no art classes and a second foreign language. In addition, the compulsory courses in American high schools are not much different from those in domestic high schools. Under the condition that there is little gap between American high school basic courses and domestic high school basic courses, elective courses have become an important project to develop academic ability. Elective courses in American high schools are usually an extension of compulsory courses.
