22-year-old Hyundai Elantra series cars

Elantra taxis all over Beijing give people a chance to fully feel this compact car that originally belonged to the family car. After Elantra entered China in 2003, it won the market recognition with its fashionable modeling, rich configuration and people-friendly price, and its sales volume was considerable. On the other hand, it is precisely because of the large quantity of this car in the market that it has the characteristics of convenient maintenance and low price of accessories.

In addition, Hyundai Motor has touched the hearts of domestic consumers with its avant-garde appearance and high cost performance, and many people have gradually eliminated their prejudice against Korean cars. In fact, Korean cars can have today, and its development process is also very difficult. For example, Elantra, which has exceeded the 700,000 mark, is a "story-telling" model, because it has been baptized by five generations.

The predecessor of Elantra: Modern Stars

Tracing back to 1983, Stellar, a modern high-end family car, went on the market. Its appearance was designed by Giorgetto Studio hired by Hyundai Motor, and its mechanical structure and power system came from Ford and Mitsubishi respectively. Stellar was very successful after she went public.

After its success, Hyundai Stellar accelerated the pace of enriching its product line. In addition to the Sonata series medium-sized cars, the first generation Elantra was launched at 1990.

First generation elantra

Year: 1990- 1995

1990, Hyundai introduced the first generation Elantra (called lantra in some parts of Europe). After the new car went on the market, the target was Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, which were in full swing at that time. The body size of the first generation Elantra was 4375 mm×1675 mm×1395 mm, and the wheelbase reached 2500mm, which was the mainstream level of compact family cars at that time.

In terms of power, the first generation Elantra is equipped with Mitsubishi 1.6L inline four-cylinder DOHC dual camshaft 16 valve engine. Maximum power output 1 13hp/6000rpm, maximum speed 187km/h/h, equipped with five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearbox.

1992, in order to successfully land in the European market, Hyundai Motor once slightly modified the appearance of the first generation Elantra according to the aesthetics of Europeans. 1993, the first generation of Elantra ushered in a modest change, the body size increased, reaching 4405 mm×1680 mm×1390 mm, and at the same time, Mitsubishi's 1.8L power was increased, which provided more choices for users at that time, thus improving.

Second generation elantra

Year: 1995-2000

The second generation Elantra released by 1995 is quite different from the first generation in appearance. Because the lines of the whole vehicle are mainly curved, the overall feeling is more rounded than that of the first generation. The body size of the second generation Elantra is 4420mm×1700mm×1395mm, and the wheelbase is 2550mm.

The second generation Elantra is not limited to South Korea, Europe and the United States, but also slowly begins to enter the markets of Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia.

It is worth mentioning that the second generation Elantra no longer uses Mitsubishi's engine technology, but is equipped with a modern self-developed Alpha engine. This is the first engine independently designed and developed by Korea, and its durability and ride comfort have also been significantly improved. In addition to providing 1.5L SOHC in-line four-cylinder engine and 1.8L Beta DOHC in-line four-cylinder engine, Hyundai Group also makes different adjustments to the engine displacement and structure according to different market demands.

1998, elantra made another mid-term change. In terms of appearance, a brand-new medium net was put on and a 2.0L engine was added. In addition, in the European market, Hyundai also launched Elantra's five-door station wagon for the first time.

Third generation elantra

Year: 2000-2006

The third generation Elantra with internal code name XD was released in 2000 and officially listed on 200 1. In fact, the concept of family design is not clearly defined in modern cars of this period. Therefore, in terms of modeling, the third generation Elantra has jumped out of the design style of the previous two generations and changed to a slightly square design similar to American cars. In terms of vehicle safety and handling, the third generation Elantra has begun to align with European cars.

The generation of Beijing Hyundai Elantra that we are most familiar with is the second model launched by Beijing Hyundai after Sonata. Elantra achieved impressive results at the beginning of its listing in 2003. In less than six years (as of March 2009), Elantra's domestic ownership exceeded 700,000, making it the third single-product car with the ownership exceeding 700,000 after Excelle and Jetta.

The body size of the third generation Elantra put into production by Beijing Hyundai is 4495mm×1720mm×1425mm, and the wheelbase is 26 10mm, which makes many competitors feel ashamed.

In terms of power, the Elantra 1.6L model put into production in China is equipped with an inline four-cylinder DOHC 16V engine (code G4GB), with the maximum power output of 107hp/5800rpm and the maximum torque of 146Nm/3000rpm, while/Kloc

This generation of Elantra engine has joined the mainstream CVVT variable valve timing technology. Although the dynamic performance has not been greatly improved, the economy has been greatly improved. Both engines are equipped with 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual gearboxes, and the suspension system is configured as a front McPherson rear double link.

The fourth generation Elantra

Year: 20/2006-20 10/0

At the new york Auto Show in 2006, Hyundai released the fourth generation Elantra, which was officially listed on a global scale in 2007. Compared with the third generation model, this car not only has great changes in appearance, but also has great improvement in power and chassis system. The brand-new 1.6L gamma engine has a maximum power of 90kw, and the front McPherson+rear multi-link suspension can also provide good driving performance.

The fourth generation Elantra was introduced into the domestic market in 2008. Compared with overseas models, Elantra has made some changes in appearance, which is very different from overseas models. In addition, Elantra suffered the treatment of reduction when it was launched, and the rear suspension was simplified from overseas multi-link to torsion beam.

The fourth generation Elantra combines the modeling characteristics of overseas flagship model Ezra, and at the same time adds some charm of Sonata, which makes the fourth generation Elantra have the elegance and stability of European cars, which is more in line with the aesthetics of Chinese people.

In addition, the body size of the fourth generation Elantra is 4505 mm×1775 mm×1480 mm, and the wheelbase is 2650 mm With the overall increase of the body size, the interior space of the fourth generation Elantra is more spacious than that of Elantra. At the same time, in terms of safety equipment, it is equipped with 6 airbags including side air curtain and ABS+EBD system.

The fifth generation Elantra (Langdong)

Year: 20 10- present (listed in China on August 23rd)

The fifth generation Elantra (named Langdong in China) was listed overseas on 20 10, but it was not introduced into the domestic market. However, after a long period of rumors, Hyundai finally finalized the domestic listing time of Langdong, and finally set it on August 23, 20 12. In this way, Langdong will form a situation in which it runs with Elantra and sells Elantra in the family.

Langdong will continue the modern distinctive design concept of "fluid sculpture", emphasizing youth and movement. Compared with the previous generation (Elantra), Elantra's positioning will be more athletic and its main customer base will be younger.

The excellent sales performance of Elantra after its introduction into the domestic market is largely due to the spacious interior space. Langdong, which is about to be listed in China, seems to be more than just focusing on space, because the body size of this car has been reduced to 4530 mm×1775 mm×1435 mm and the wheelbase is 2700 mm. Compared with Elantra, the wheelbase of Elantra is increased by 50mm, and the sports car-like design makes the body size slightly smaller than Elantra.

Langdong's interior is no different from the overseas version, and the effect and collocation of the interior are more familial. In the design of the center console, Langdong obviously incorporates the design elements of fluid sculpture, which looks dynamic and dynamic in one go. Silver decoration is obviously better than mahogany to please the mainstream users of compact models.

In terms of power, Langdong is equipped with a brand-new 1.6L or 1.8L engine, matching the brand-new 6-speed automatic and 5-speed manual gearboxes. In which 1.6L engine can output maximum power 103kW and maximum torque 167Nm. According to EPA data, the fuel consumption of 1.8L expressway is only 5.9L/ 100km.

From the positioning point of view, Langdong will mainly impact the mainstream A-class car market, including heavyweight models such as Honda Civic and Changan Ford New Focus, and will be Langdong's main competitors.

Of course, but as a Korean car company, modern cost performance has always been optimistic. After the listing of Langdong, Elantra will form a family situation of it running, so that the price range will be larger and users will have more choices.
