Laozi is the first person in the history of China to expound the role and position of the latecomers from the perspective of military philosophy. One of the characteristics of his thought is that he advocates retreat as progress and softness as strength. Lao Tzu said, "I dare not be the host and the guest, and I dare not retreat." In other words, I won't shoot the first shot and invade other countries, so I won the support of morality and public opinion, and my war will become a just war. Laozi emphasized the relationship between man and society, that is, virtue. Laozi expounded his thoughts and viewpoints from political, military and diplomatic aspects.

Governing by doing nothing, conforming to the current situation, governing the country by reason, and handling affairs according to law are also advocating cautious use of troops. Laozi has a simple dialectical materialism thought and put forward the idea of "respecting Tao and respecting law", which is more than 2,000 years earlier than Marx and can be called "ancient oriental Marx". Laozi is the founder of oriental philosophy and Taoism. At the same time, Laozi was earlier than' the three sages of ancient Greece, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle' 100 ~ 200 years.
