History of Shenjian Town
Shenjian Township is rich in natural and cultural landscapes. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cai Shun, one of the twenty-four filial piety in ancient times, lived here with his mother in order to avoid the chaos of Wang Mang. Cai Shun picked mulberries, the green ones were unripe and the black ones were ripe, and waited on her mother. This move touched the Red Eyebrow Army, and all the soldiers washed their eyebrows and scattered mace, hence the name Shen Jian. Today, the ancient styles of Messi River and Chimei City have been specially preserved. In order to show Cai Shun's virtue, the local people raised funds to repair Cai Shun's Xiaozi Temple, which became a tourist attraction to promote culture, purify folk customs and cherish the memory of the ancients. Sunzhuang Reservoir covers an area of more than 500 mu and is the largest reservoir in Xuchang County, with vast smoke and rippling blue waves. The two islands in the lake set each other off, surrounded by green trees, birds flying in the air and fish and shrimp playing in the water. It is also an excellent place for tourism, leisure and fishing.
