Historical inheritance of Soviet-style color painting
Suzhou-style color painting originated from the traditional folk practices in Suzhou and Hangzhou in the south of the Yangtze River, hence the name "Suzhou Film". Generally, it is used in small buildings in China classical gardens, such as pavilions, terraces, corridors, pavilions, quadrangles and foreheads of hanging flower doors. Soviet-style color paintings in the Forbidden City are mostly used in gardens, palaces and other places, mostly works in Qianlong, Tongzhi or Guangxu periods. Empress Dowager Cixi was particularly fond of Su paintings, and all the colored paintings in Ningshou Palace and other places where she lived were changed to Su style, which destroyed the original unified style of the building to some extent. In recent years, the Palace Museum has gradually restored the original color paintings according to the archives.
