Cao Gong and Liu Bei were surrounded by Lu Bu, and Guan Yu and Qin sent for help and begging for a wife, and they agreed. On the verge of fracture, it has been opened to the outside world many times. I suspect it has a different color, so welcome in advance. Because I keep it for myself, I feel uneasy. This is no different from what Wei said in Spring and Autumn Annals.
The word "repeatedly" shows Guan Yu's strong desire to marry Qin, and also shows Guan Yu's love for beauty. Cao Cao and Liu Bei's army besieged Lu Bu in the next place. Before the attack, Guan Yu asked Cao Cao to marry Qin's wife, and Cao Cao agreed. When Cao Cao wanted to attack, Guan Yu asked Cao Cao for instructions again because of his urgent marriage. Repeated requests aroused Cao Cao's curiosity about Qin's wife. So, after his success, Cao Cao couldn't wait to see Qin's beautiful wife. Unexpectedly, Cao Cao fell in love at first sight and accepted him as his concubine, failing to fulfill his promise to Guan Yu. The beauty was taken away, which made Guan Yu very unhappy and began to be dissatisfied with Cao Cao. Many modern researchers dispute the truth of this matter, but its existence is reasonable. There are some corresponding contents in the three volumes of Pei Songzhi Note, which proves the truth of this matter. The specific description is as follows:
"Biography of Xian Di" Day: Lang's father's name is Lu Bu's envoy to Yuan Shu, and his wife is an imperial concubine of the Han Dynasty. His ex-wife Du Shi left Qiu. When Buyi was besieged, Guan Yu invited Mao to propose to Du many times. Mao suspected that it was color, and the city was trapped. Mao saw it and took it himself. "
Guan Yu learned that Qin had married a Han woman in Yuan Shu, so he called Cao Cao and asked him to marry Qin's wife when he broke the city. This passage appeared in the official history, which not only confirmed the fact that Guan Yu wanted to marry Qin's wife, but also showed that Guan Yu, though lewd, was very manly. Although Guan Yu loves his daughter, he can still follow the rules, which is also in line with Guan Yu's heroic image. In other works at that time, Guan Yu's past was also recorded. Such as "Huayang National Records Collation" Volume 6 has similar records:
"At the beginning, the feather with master from public wai lyu3 bu4 in tuen Yang. At that time, Qin asked for help, and Yu qigong said,' a wife has no children, so she goes to town to ask for a wife.' Make a public commitment. At the gate, it was white again. If you doubt it is colored, accept it. "
This passage also describes Guan Yu's desire to marry Qin's wife. An event can appear in different historical documents many times, which is enough to show its authenticity. However, this incident seems to be detrimental to Guan Yu's tall image, so it was not used in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, people recorded less about the history of the Three Kingdoms. Pei Songzhi's annotation on the History of the Three Kingdoms has added a lot of contents. Through the detailed description of the events, the characters are enriched, different historical scenes are displayed for people, and the interest in the History of the Three Kingdoms is increased to some extent. Pei Songzhi's view of historical figures is completely different from Chen Shou's. History in his eyes is flesh and blood. Therefore, Pei Songzhi tried to activate this period of history and restore the original appearance of the event.
During the period after Guan Yu's death, Guan Yu was rarely mentioned in the Western Jin Dynasty, the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Southern Dynasties and the Northern Dynasties, whether in historical works or folk stories. There are also some reasons for this: in the late Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the social pattern changed. People attach importance to the position and role of literati in society, especially the rise of literati families has made people have a strong class concept, but they often ignore military commanders. During the Three Kingdoms period, the formation of "Three Caos and Seven Scholars" promoted the development of literature. Cao did not introduce a nine-level system to select officials, and the imperial examination system introduced by Emperor Yangdi later showed a tendency of attaching importance to literature over martial arts. Generally speaking, there are many heroes in the troubled times of the Three Kingdoms, and Guan Yu occupies a place in human history with his unique image.
