Flood history
According to historical records, from BC 185 (early Western Han Dynasty) to BC191year (late Qing Dynasty), the Yangtze River was flooded twice14 times, from 1499 to/kloc.

During the period of 1788, floods occurred in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. On July 23rd, the flood peak flow in Yichang was 86,000 cubic meters per second. The affected area reached 54 million mu, with more than 80,000 victims/kloc-0, and the Beijing-Guangzhou line could not be opened to traffic normally 100 days.
