The Historical Origin of Anxi County
Anxi County is located in the south of Fujian Province, bordering Quanzhou in the east, Zhangzhou in the south, Jinjiang in the north and kinmen county in the west. Anxi county has a long history. Shishi County, one of the ancient "coastal buildings" in southern Fujian, was renamed "Anxi County" because of the vertical and horizontal streams and springs. According to historical records, Anxi County was founded in Sui and Tang Dynasties and is the cultural center and commercial center of southern Fujian. By the Tang Dynasty, Anxi County had become the hometown of tea, with increasingly exquisite tea-making skills and world-famous tea, which made great contributions to the economic development of Fujian Province. In the Ming Dynasty, the tea industry in Anxi County developed rapidly and was known as "the hometown of tea in Fujian". During the Qing dynasty, the production technology of Anxi tea was further improved, and the tea was more mellow, so it was called "green tea". Since modern times, Anxi County has developed rapidly in economy, and has made remarkable achievements in tea making, stone processing, wood processing, fishery, textile, electronic appliances and other fields, and has become one of the important industrial bases in Fujian Province and even the whole country.
