The origin of Jishishan
The origin of the name Jishishan is as follows:

The word "accumulated stone" has a long history. There are two sayings in Shangshu Gong Yu: "Floating on accumulated stones" and "Drawing stones from rivers". Later, it was introduced into Historical Records Xia Benji by Sima Qian. "Historical Records" said: "Jishi Mountain is in the southwest of Jincheng, and the river passes through it." Textual research on historical records also says: Ji's family is in the southwest of Heguan County, Jincheng. Jishixia has been the gateway of Lanzhou Yellow River Basin to Qinghai-Tibet Plateau since ancient times. The feudal dynasty built the Jishi Pass and stationed troops in the canyon. He Ming Zhou Wei's first pass in the twenty-four Guanzhong is Jishiguan, which is called "Jishiguan Lock Key".

Due to the lack of knowledge of ancient western geography, there are two opinions about the "Jishishan" recorded in Shangshu Gong Yu. One is Anima Castle Peak in Qinghai, and the other is Jishi Mountain at the junction of Gansu and Qinghai, which are called Daji Mountain and Xiaoji Mountain respectively. It is generally believed that the "Jishishan" in history should be a small Jishishan, that is, Dayu began to control the Yellow River flood from Jishiguan in the Yellow River Canyon of Xunhua County.

It is the main peak of Jishi Mountain. The mountain range is more than 70 kilometers long and the southern mountainous area is more than 3,500 meters, covering an area of more than 50 square kilometers, accounting for 4.5% of the total area of the county. It is mainly composed of Lower Triassic rocks, mostly gray, gray-black, gray-green sandstone, slate, gravelly limestone, limestone and porphyritic granite. Due to the gray-white rocks, high altitude, sparse vegetation and perennial snow, the peaks in Linxia, Xiahe and Le Kang are collectively called Baishishan in history. Because the rocks in the mountain are exposed and the color is free, it is also called exposed mountain.
