Relationship between Sihe River and Confucian Culture
The relationship between Sihe and Confucian culture is as follows:

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the four combinations gave birth to Confucian culture. Five Confucian sages (Confucius, Mencius, Yan Zi, Ceng Zi, Liu Xiahui), Mozi, Zhongzi and many other sages, who grew up or lived in the Sihe, all formed an indissoluble bond with the Sihe.

Confucius, the most sacred teacher, was born in Nishan, on the border of Quhe. He is well-read and proficient in six arts. He gathered in Suzhou and Suzhou to give lectures, which not only trained a large number of students, but also put forward a series of ideas, forming Confucianism with "benevolence" as the core, which was carried forward by later sages such as Mencius and became the core content of China culture.

Zi said in Sichuan: "The deceased is like a husband, not giving up day and night." The "Sichuan" here is the Sihe River.

Sihe River is a tributary of Nansi Lake of Yishu Sishui System in Huaihe River Basin and a big river in the middle of Shandong Province. In ancient times, it was called Surabaya, which was a famous river in ancient times. Qufu City Records is also recorded as Zhusihe, one of the four evils and eight streams. The famous sentence in the Analects of Confucius, "The deceased is like a husband, staying up all night", is a sigh of Confucius when he looks at the river flowing.

Originated in Dongheyu Mountain, Shangyu Village at the foot of Taiping Mountain in southeastern xintai city, it flows through Xintai, Sishui, Qufu, Yanzhou, Zoucheng (formerly Zouxian County), Jining and Weishan, and joins Nansi Lake at the junction of Shiqiao in rencheng district, southern Jining and Luqiao Town in Weishan County, with a river length of 169 km, a drainage area of 2,383.6 square kilometers and an average river gradient of 65,433.

Shangyuan spring and forest spring group were once considered as the source of Sihe River, and they are famous spring areas and scenic spots in Shandong Province. Sihe River was originally one of the largest tributaries of Huaihe River. In modern geography, Nansi Lake and the abandoned Yellow River in the south, and Lake Rome to Hongze Lake in the north are all Surabaya River basins, which flow into Huaihe River in Huaiyin.

After the completion of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal in Yuan Dynasty, the lower reaches of Gushi River became the canal channel, and the upper reaches of Sihe River became the tributary of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal. After the formation of Nansi Lake, only a section of Sihe River from Heyuan to Luqiao entered the lake, becoming a tributary of Nansi Lake and a tributary of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, a new river was selected in the lake section, which was changed from a new gate to the south.

The middle and upper reaches of the Sihe River flow through hilly areas, and the water accumulates quickly, and the flood is a great threat to the downstream. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the main and branch flows were treated for a long time, and a number of water storage projects were built, which basically eliminated the flood disaster in Sihe River and developed hydropower. Sihe River is also an important irrigation water source in Jining City.
