The history of Wuhan University can be traced back to 1893. Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, established the School of Self-improvement at the invitation of the Qing government, and changed its name to Dialect School in 1902. Since the reform and opening up, Wuhan University has taken the lead in carrying out education and teaching reform in domestic universities, and its various undertakings have flourished and its comprehensive strength has been significantly enhanced.
